Panel 960
The side event panel discussion was an opportunity for several mine action operators to flag environmental issues that have emerged in the course of their operations. L-R Olaf Juergensen UNDP, Roland Evans GICHD and David Hewitson, Fenix Insight Ltd.
Group work 960
Breaking out into small groups allowed space for enthusiastic discussions on five key themes around mine action and the environment.
Bosnia floods 960
In 2014 Bosnia was hit by severe flooding, which also triggered landslides. With millions of mines still remaining from the conflict, this raised the spectre of the floods and mudflows mobilising land mines. Climate change is expected to lead to increased flood risks due to more unpredictable and intense rainfall. Photo: UNDP
