One explosive ordnance removed, more families are safe
NPA/RENEW’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team responded to six EO emergency hotline calls from local residents in Quang Tri Province on 26 February 2025, successfully removing 23 explosive ordnances.
In Gio Linh District, 70-year-old Lam Cong Phuoc reported that his workers had unearthed a 105mm projectile while leveling the yard for his new house. The NPA/RENEW team promptly arrived, securing and removing the dangerous ordnance, thereby eliminating a threat to both workers and locals.
The team then proceeded to Hai Lang District, where 72-year-old Hoang Huu Cach discovered a 40mm grenade while tending his garden. Shortly after, Deputy Chief of Hai Chanh Commune, Phan Binh, guided the team to a site where explosive ordnance had been found during efforts to recover remains of war casualties.
In An Dong Ward, Quang Tri Town, two 40mm grenades were safely removed after being discovered by locals dredging sand along the Thach Han River. While en route to Gio Linh District, the team also assisted 36-year-old Tran Duc Them, who found an aviation bomb fuze buried in the foundation of his new home.
Finally, in Truong Tho Village, Hai Thai Commune, a mother reported that her 15-year-old son had uncovered a piece of ordnance while fishing. The EOD team swiftly responded, ensuring the safety of the boy and community.

Through these rapid and coordinated responses, NPA/RENEW continues its mission to safeguard lives and reduce the lingering dangers of wartime explosives in Quang Tri Province.
