“I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to lead Norwegian People's Aid. A unique organisation, which, for over 80 years, has put solidarity into action, internationally and in Norway”, says Raymond Johansen.
Johansen has broad experience from international work, as State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry and Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, working with a broad member organisation, as Secretary General in the Labour Party, as well as crisis management and preparedness as a city council leader in Oslo.
“I will use the coming time to listen to and learn from the organisation. I am humbled by the excellent work done by my predecessors and by employees and members, both here in Norway and internationally. I look forward to getting to know the whole organisation”, says Johansen.
“In an uncertain world, characterised by war, conflict and the climate crisis”, Johansen says, “Norwegian People's Aid's work is highly relevant, for better or for worse.”
Johansen will take up the position on 25 January 2024, and the chairman is very satisfied with the appointment.
“We secured the right person for the right place with this appointment. Norwegian People's Aid is a diverse organisation, and Raymond Johansen is a versatile individual with solid experience and significant results leading complex organisations. Johansen also has extensive experience with both humanitarian and political work internationally and nationally. Something that will make him an excellent leader for Norwegian People's Aid”, said Jan Olav Andersen, chairman of the national board of Norwegian People's Aid.
