Ten years of independence for South Sudan
Freedom is a fundamental human right.
On this day 10 years ago, South Sudan became an independent country. Shortly after, the country was thrown into a brutal civil war that threatened to tear the country to pieces.
Today, their young population continue the struggle for peace and democracy. The challenges are many: poverty, unemployment, corruption, violence, climate change and the struggle for land and natural resources. Nevertheless, there is hope for a better future for the youngest country on Earth and all who live there.
Congratulations on the Independence Day to the people and all our partners in South Sudan.
