Standardising Beneficiary Definitions in Humanitarian Mine Action: Second Edition 2020
Standardising Beneficiary Definitions in Humanitarian Mine Action: Second Edition 2020
The second edition of the Standardising Beneficiary Definitions in Humanitarian Mine Action report has been developed by DanChurchAid (DCA), Danish Demining Group (DDG), Fédération Suisse de Déminage (FSD), Mines Advisory Group (MAG), The HALO Trust, Humanity and Inclusion (HI), and Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).
The guide is an effort to establish common definitions of beneficiaries of mine action activities, drawing from best practices in mine action programmes worldwide. Emphasis has been given to gender, age and disability and new sections are included relating to victim assistance and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD).
The initial 2016 sections on risk education and land release were thoroughly reviewed and terminology updated to reflect latest developments. Extensive consultations for this guide were also made with Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS).
